Bloglovin

So I recently discovered this new website called Bloglovin and I am kind of obsessed. There are so many blogs to follow and it's a lot like tumblr without a lot of the fandoms. There are a lot of beauty blogs and home decore blogs. My personal favorites are the DIY and Photography blogs. It's definitely an awesome website if you want to spend more days lazing around and killing time on the internet ^_^

Israel-Gaza Conflict

People all over the world, especially Americans, are very aware of the problem going on in Israel and Palestine. However, few of us know what is actually going on and what to believe. I think the following quote I found while doing a bit of research properly reflects how I feel.

"I am deeply confused: perhaps because, when it comes to Israel and Gaza, some people are not allowed to express their real feelings, and some journalists are prevented from telling us the entire truth." (Source)

I'm not making this post to write about my opinions on this conflict because frankly, I don't have any. I feel as if I am not able to get the entire picture. Though America plays such a big role in this conflict, few Americans actually know what America is doing (or maybe I'm just speaking for myself lol). A lot of people have their vision curtailed because of familial ties, religious affiliation, etc. and are unable to form an opinion for themselves by actively searching for information. Their knowledge is bound by these ties.

I looked up some statistics on BBC (x) and from this it is very clear that Palestine has suffered thousands of casualties with innocent civilians - men, women, and children alike - are being slaughtered by Israeli soldiers. However, it is also true that Palestine has launched thousands of (ineffective) rockets to Israel. However, from these stats alone, we are not aware of the whole political picture, what this conflict is actually about, and what the "real motives" of each party are. For example, according to BBC, Israel uses the pretense of protecting themselves against a terrorist organization, and to have Israel's right to exist be acknowledged by Palestine, to slaughter innocent civilians. (Like literally dude - you're Israel. Who cares if Palestine thinks you don't deserve to exist?! Or maybe I'm just reading that wrong lol). Also, apparently natural gas was found near the shores of Palestine, so that definitely complicates things. There is all this underlying political stuff and hidden agendas that I feel like people have the right to know, but don't. (Perhaps some people don't want to know as well?)

This war has been going on for decades. So why do so many people suddenly care about this issue now? When thousands of Palestinians were being killed, the world diverted their attention to Michael Jackson's death among many other "first world distractions." So why do people now choose to comment on every single post on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media outlets "#FreePalestine?" Have people finally decided to form an educated opinion after reading countless sources? (Please send me sources I need to read more D: ) Or are they just going with the flow without actually knowing what is going on, like many people tend to do nowadays (not saying I ain't one of them).

Please, I ain't lookin' for hate. I'm just a deeply confused teenager who doesn't know what to believe. Mass media and our other social affiliations tend to force us to think a certain way, and sorry, I'd rather form my own opinion after doing buttloads of research. K thanks.

(I'm not incorporating any pictures for viewer discretion...not that we have any viewers anyway lol.)

Lilac Hair

Yo wassup guys. So if you haven't noticed, I might one the most eccentric blogger of this bunch. I guess I'm going through some sort of a teenage phase. I went vegetarian and now I've gone and dyed my hair like a lilac/lavender color. My mom hates it. She says that it looks like chicken feathers which makes no sense at all because if I'm not colorblind I'm pretty sure most chickens have white feathers.

It kind of surprises me how many people lile my hair. Not going to lie I think it's pretty swag. I might keep this color for a while lol. Watch me go pink next ^_^ I dyed my hair for a bet but I kind of want to keep it this color to rebel against mom because she sucks like she hurts my feels when she calls me chicken feathers. Idk if thats even what she's saying because idk Chinese
Well at least now I don't look like every other Asian. I now have anime swag

I'm so swag I sometimes ok never mind. Don't mind me. So yea I have purple hair
I bleached my hair like three times in two days which is basically hair suicide, but unlike most asians I have really thin, Caucasian hair so it went platinum blonde by like the second bleach. I then proceeded to dilute the dark purple dye to make it pastel and now it is a kawaii pastel purple. I have taken so many aelfies this week because all of my friends wanna see my hair so here are the pictures.

Jjajangmyeon Outing!!!

Referring to isntniallerlovely's post below, boy am I grateful that i have a dimple o-o
....I think I should still do those muscle pressing exercises though....
So today (well yesterday since it's like 1am right now) isntniallerlovely and I (along with 2 other friends - Alice and Kevin) decided to kind of celebrate Black Day kind of late! This past Monday was Black Day otherwise known as Singles Day - a minor South Korean holiday where singles "celebrate" by eat jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) by themselves and hopefully find other people eating noodles alone as well! Well it's not Black Day (it's Good Friday actually...so much for Kevin's abstinence) but we wanted to eat food together anyway so we decided to do have this outing! Unfortunately only 4 of us could go but it was still awesome!
We hung out in Paris Baguette and other various places in Flushing. THE MAIN ATTRACTION WAS FREE FOOD AT ALICE'S PARENT'S RESTAURANT!!! THE FOOD WAS SO GOOD OMFG. *Advertisement: It's called Chinese House I think in Flushing* Ironic 'cuz it's a Korean restaurant lol
We did the Chubby Bunny Challenge (well isntniallerlovely couldn't 'cuz we didn't have vegetarian marshmallows :c) I FIT 6 MARSHMALLOWS Alice 4 and Kevin 7. UGH I WILL BEAT YOU KEVIN!!!! Besides trying to push Kevin and isntniallerlovely into the pond full of Koi fish at Queens Crossing and almost being pushed in myself by Kevin (=_=) today was an AWESOME day!!
Sorry we have no pictures this time. And omg this post is soo all over the place. You see I actually had some sort of topic before to rant about after writing a brief description about the outing but I forgot. T_T Can't wait for my next day off in May 26 (omfg I'm gonna die goodbye guys I won't survive until then). WISH ME LUCK!!
OOOH MAYBE I CAN POST THE PICTURES OF ISNTNIALLERLOVELY AND KEVIN ON THIS BLOG FROM NATURE REPUBLIC (with their permission of course h a h a . . . ) >_>"

P.S. isntniallerlovely is still vegetarian (YAY!!) but it was kinda difficult for her to order something especially at a Korean restaurant. #thestruggleisreal

Almost Dimple?

Hello my little strawberry sprinkles! So someone recently called me a strawberry sprinkle. The  exchange went a little like this
"You know you're pretty cute, like a strawberry sprinkle"
"Fuck yea I am"
"Ok you just ruined it you're a burnt sprinkle now"
"How do you burn a sprinkle?"
"I put you on the fire because I don't like you"
So yea. I am a burnt strawberry sprinkle. So anyway, not relevant.

One feature that I find extremely attractive in guys is the dimple. I have always wanted a  dimple because I think that they're so cute ^_^ I looked in the mirror today and ERMAGURD I THINK I HAVE LIKE HALF A DIMPLE! Have the puberty gods finally decided that I would be chosen to receive a muscle deformity? If so I will be eternally grateful, I'll even sacrifice some of my plushies to the puberty gods. The thing is, is that my dimples aren't really dimples because they are not that deeply indented. So as any human being would do I decided to look around for ummmm uh dimple exercises and I found this page lol

I can't even lol. But yea that's the end of my very narcissistic blog post. Hmmm what's a funny thing that has happened in my life recently? Oh so I'm a member of the photo club at my high school and it turns out that aside from most of us being art geeks, half the club are Pokemon fans. We started talking about the first Pokemon episode where Pikachu and Ash are being chased by spearows and Ash rides his bike off a cliff. They are weak, injured, and unable to run, so Ash decides to sacrifice himself inn order to save Pikachu and he selflessly throws himself in front of the spearows in order to save Pikachu. So I guess I should mention that it's raining in this scene. Pikachu uses a lightning bolt to strengthen the power of his thunder bolt and he manages to save Ash and himself, but the thunder bolt leaves him in critical condition and Ash has to rush him to the nearest hospital. In the first ever Pokemon movie with Mewtwo and Mew, Ask gets turned into stone and Pikachu tries to thunder bolt Ash to try to bring him back to life. AND THEN PIKACHU WAS CRYING AND ALL THE OTHER POKEMON WERE CRYING AND THEN THEIR TEARS BROUGHT HIM BACK TO LIFE!!! IT WAS SO INSPIRING!!!!! Some of the seniors actually started crying during our discussion. No don't judge them, and if you do...YOU DON'T KNOW THE FEELS!

Oh and another interesting thing. My friend and I have decided that if junior and senior year come around and we don't have prom dates, we're just going to pretend to be lesbian and go for it.

Aye It's Been Awhile!

I think it'll be interesting to read back our posts once in a while. I can't believe we started this blog towards the end of 6th grade. And now we're nearing the end of 9th.
We've done some serious growing up, and we've still got a lot more growing to do. Each of us is going to a different high school, and despite all the hectic occurrences taking place in our lives, we all manage to make some time to post in the blog once in a while (though it takes some more provoking than others *cough* *cough*). Even if no one else reads this, I think one of the biggest audience members to this blog is ourselves. And I love that. I love you guys.

Sorry this music is making me such a romantic.

Speaking of romantic - IT IS NOW SAFE TO SAY I HAVE BECOME COMPLETELY OBSESSED WITH PRIDE AND PREJUDICE!! All this time I have always avoided Jane Austen because of my bad experience with reading Emma in 6th grade. I hated the stupidity of the protagonist so much that I had to stop reading the book. I now find out that that was the effect Jane Austen was trying to have.
Despite my violent and scary appearance, I happen to be one of the biggest romantics ever, and reading 18th-19th century novels only heightens my feelings. I don't want to give any spoilers away, so I'll stop right here. We are reading this book for English and I watched the 2005 movie starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen last night (meaning from like 1am-4am). I plan to watch all the versions of the book and make it a yearly ritual to read the book and watch the movie! (I'm pretty fond of rituals and stuff.) The movie went a little fast and didn't cover all the nuances in the book, but then again most movies based on books are like that. The movie was still really good! I suggest you watch the American ending to the movie - it is so much more fulfilling! This book deserves to be read countless times by each person!
READ AND WATCH IT Y'ALL!!
I haven't felt like such a romantic since I obsessed over Anne of Green Gables and The Secret Garden back in the day. XD
Pride and Prejudice is truly one of life's greatest pleasures, as my English teacher said before we started the book.

"You may only call me 'Mrs. Darcy' when you are completely, and perfectly, and incandescently happy." ~ Mrs. Elizabeth Darcy

Oops spoiler alert! *chuckle*

Going Veg--Week One

So I decided to go Vegetarian 4 days ago, and so far I'm doing pretty well. I guess I'll do installments of all of these for every week I stay vegetarian. In this post I'll talk about my experience so far and why I decided to become vegetarian.

So honestly, I've never been much of a meat-eater and I just never really craved meat, however, the first day I decided to go vegetarian, I almost ate some fish that my parents had cooked. I decided to quit cold turkey and so far it's been working out great. The most important part of quitting cold turkey is self-control :) As an Asian, I can say that Asian cuisine is not very vegetarian friendly. There's either meat and sea food in every Dim Sum Dish, some sort of meat or seafood used in every kind of soup, the same goes for hot pot, Korean BBQs, Pho, everything basically.

So far, I'm the only vegetarian in my family. One of the major problems of being vegetarian is trying to keep up with the daily intake of protein. I find myself having to make omelets and tofu soup a lot to try to get all the protein I need.

I think that one of the reasons why it's been pretty easy for me to become vegetarian is because my mom can't cook at all so my vegetarian meals are not underwhelming or anything. I think I get the same satisfaction out of eating a vegetarian diet than a omnivore diet.

One of the reasons I decided to become vegetarian is because I wanted to be healthier. Red meat causes a build up of plaque in the bloodstream, heart disease, obesity, etc. Studies also show that people who don't eat meat live longer, not that I necessarily want to live longer lol The Industrial food industry is also making me question the kind of food that I am buying. It's all about quantity and not quality. I mean it's common knowledge that cows eat grass, their digestive systems are made for it with their four stomachs and all. The Industrial food system feeds them corn which then lead to the cows developing E.Coli. Why do all the huge industries feed the cows corn? Because it's cheaper. If they took the cows off of corn for 20 days, they could get rid of all the E. Coli in the stomachs. But they won't.

Now I could just go organic, but even so, animals raised organically also need to be killed in order for us to consume them. I feel wrong eating fellow animals and therefore I decided to just not eat meat at all. I'm kind of traumatized after watching a video of people hunting and cooking rabbits.

Another reason why I decided to make this life altering decision is because I started to question my diet. Humans have smaller canine than most carnivores, the kind that can only tear up chicken and seafood. Most meat has to be cooked before eaten or else it's inedible, whereas vegetables don't (salads). Most vegans and vegetarians lose their taste for meat after a while and the smell becomes nauseating. I've also heard a lot of horror stories about vegans and vegetarians throwing up and having diarrhea after accidentally eating meat. What I'm trying to say is that maybe eating red meat is not natural. I mean you can live a decent life while eating red meat but why is it that meat seems to be more of an acquired taste more than anything else?

Many people choose to be pescatarian or vegan. I chose to be smack dab in the middle (dat phrase doe). Pescatarians eat fish and seafood and their rational is that seafood have such low IQs that they are unable to feel pain because their brains have not developed enough. Well I heard that lobsters scream when you  boil them. I don't know if that's true, and I don't intend to find out. Vegans preach a raw diet that consist mainly of uncooked foods. I think I might want to slowly transition into being vegan. I mean, I had to give up Rice Crispy Treats and marshmallows, I want to wait a while before I give up whipped cream and pizza.

While vegans and vegetarians are both fighting for the same causes (animal rights, the stopping of deforestation) they're always at each other's throats. Vegans claim that the only real vegetarians are vegans, which I sort of agree with. I mean how many people do you know who are lactose intolerant? Humans just weren't made to drink cow's milk (I have always preferred soy milk and almond milk anyway). However, vegans are also very keen on the rights of honey bees. Honey bees are exploited for their honey, but they are also used to pollinate crops, so even if I stop consuming honey, the bees will continue to be exploited which is a very sad reality but it's true. Even though it is wrong, I think kind of a useless battle.

Vegetarians drink milk and eat eggs because they believe that these things can be extracted from the animals painlessly and without harming them, hence the reason why vegetarians usually buy organically, they know that the animals are treated better.  Humans domesticated cows and now the cows rely on humans to milk them every morning. It's actually very painful for the cows to go too long without milking and chicken eggs are almost never fertilized so you're not really killing any lives. Buying these products is also indirectly keeping the animals alive. You can't really get milk out of a dead cow.

So I just realized that this is a very long blog post. I hope that you guys found this helpful and if you guys have any questions comment them and I'll adress them nest time:)

Life

Guys...like *sigh*
Can high school be over yet?
No actually that's not what I want.
Can something different come along our ways? Something special?
This schedule of school, sleep (maybe), school, sleep is really starting to break me. It's tough.
I want it to stop.
But you know what?
Everyday I look forwards to sometime in the future when I will finally be able to wear the white lab coat. I still don't know if it's actually what I want, but till that happens I'll try to make the best of what's happening.
We can do it! FIGHTING!!
Meanwhile, I'll use K-Pop and K-Dramas as that "special something." *sigh*

Parents parents parents

They take care of us, they RAISED us, and they yell at us. Well let's say chastise for lack of a better word and point out our mistakes, not always in the nicest way though.
I have a lot to complain about since high school started but. I will start with this.
Parents
1. My dad today was giving me a lecture about how I was being rude and 'although it may not be your intention to' (it really was not) 'if you give off bad body language the people around you get annoyed and mad too' and a. I wasn't. I merely "slashed" at my ipad for not shutting down on me. 2. If I'm standing for twenty minutes during a lecture, I think anyone is going to get annoyed.
During this lecture one of the things he mentioned the most was, when you're talking to someone look at them. Throughout the twenty minute lecture. He totally avoided looking at my face the whole time. Nice example you're setting there dad. And well. I have homework to do, so I will do that first and then continue complaining. Hooray.
Oh and thanks dad for giving me medicine. Perhaps you didn't notice I wasn't sick anymore?
