I know that isntniallerlovely posted something about her height a few posts ago, and I thought I should do the same - but from a different perspective.
She did a post about how she is considered tall by some people, medium by others, or sometimes even short.
However, I will always be plain short no matter where I go. I am 5'1 - the shortest among all the contributors to this blog, one of the shortest in my middle school, and though I haven't seen everyone at Dalton, I will probably be the shortest Daltonian there too. (Oops...have I disclosed my location? Nope not really. There are too many Daltons worldwide...though you guys probably have an idea of where we are located already. :P )
It's sad really. Everyone there with their Caucasian-ness are at least a foot or two taller than I am (or at least it feels like it), and there I am bending my neck all the way back just to be able to take a good look at their chin, and if I am lucky, their full face. It's sad. Especially when I try to speak to one of the taller people there, but he can't even hear me because the height difference is so big the sound waves don't even travel that far.
But it's alright. There are some people who are only a couple inches taller than I am. I guess I'll only be able to talk comfortably with them, instead of shouting up at the ceiling.
Notice how I mention their "Caucasian-ness." It's true that not all Caucasians are tall, but it is true that most of them are either average height or above average. Where my parents come from, people are short most of the time. I'm not even the shortest in my nuclear family - I'm the 2nd shortest, with my mom being only about 5'! The tallest is my dad, and he is only about 5'5! When I go back to the old country, I would be considered average height. In fact, I'm a head taller than my grandmother and my aunt! That makes me feel happy haha. XD The tallest in my family is my brother-in-law who is 6'. I don't even know how that happened 'cuz his parents and brother are probably like 5'6 or 5'7 or something.
I know you're supposed to be happy with the way you are and all that, but it wouldn't hurt if I was a couple inches taller. Being average height of 5'3 or 5'4 would be fine. In fact, it would help a lot.
There are advantages of being short though. You can avoid human traffic by zig-zagging through the small spaces in the crowd. Where I live, that can be incredibly helpful. :D
